I think there are cases where we need to revisit long-held convention. we often hear that the time is right to get rid of all the politicians. just what is a “politician”. I would like to suggest that each of us is a politician on occasion.
The Milking Stool…

Being a politician is kinda like being an athelete or a student or a spiritualist. One comes in at varying skill levels. When we denegrate house representatives or senators for being “politicians” and therefore corrupt, we shoot ourselves in the foot. You see, we all are at times an athelete, student, and spiritualist. We mistakenly let ourselves accept that a congressman must be a good politician. This matters because the effect is to leave their ascension vulnerable to $ and special interests. It allows him/her to see themselves as job holders, hires, or office holders. It follows that they will strive to keep their jobs. It then follows that they are bureaucrats. Bureaucrats belong in the executive branch. I say WE let this happen. We don’t really want to throw out the politicians… we want to throw out the “bureaucrats”. Wouldn’t it be better to require our congressional candidates to be less skilled politicians and more skilled at public servanthood.
